French Ski Star Undergoes Knee Surgery

French skier Alexis Pinturault, a three-time Olympic medalist, has crashed during a World Cup super-G race in Switzerland and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2023 World Cup season.

Pinturault, who won the overall World Cup title in 2021, crashed hard in the race on Friday and was immediately transported to a local hospital. Medical examinations revealed a knee injury that will require surgery.

According to a statement released by the French Ski Federation, Pinturault will undergo surgery next week and is expected to miss the remainder of the World Cup season. This is a significant blow to the French team, as Pinturault is one of their top skiers and a strong contender for medals in multiple events.

Pinturault has had a successful career thus far, with three Olympic medals, including a gold in the combined event at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. He is also a multiple World Cup race winner and has consistently been ranked among the top skiers in the world.
