Perry Returns to Oilers on One-Year Contract

Forward reunites with Edmonton after brief stint with Blackhawks

Experienced winger adds depth to Oilers' playoff push

EDMONTON -- Corey Perry is back in Edmonton, signing a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Oilers on Wednesday. The deal also includes up to $325,000 in performance bonuses.

"I'm excited to be back in Edmonton," Perry said. "I think we have a great team here, and I'm looking forward to contributing in any way I can."

The 38-year-old forward was waived by the Chicago Blackhawks on March 11 after posting just one goal and two assists in 10 games this season. He then signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Oilers on March 14.

Perry has played in 16 games with the Oilers this season, recording nine points (four goals, five assists). He has also been a physical presence, averaging 4.1 hits per game.

"Corey is a proven winner and a valuable addition to our team," Oilers general manager Ken Holland said. "He's a versatile player who can play both wing and center, and he's a great teammate. We're confident he can help us make a deep playoff run."
